Graduate RESEARCHERS

elmas kuru

  Elmas Kuru is a doctoral student in the Department of Protohistory and Near Eastern Archaeology at Istanbul University. Having earned both her bachelor's and master's degrees from the same department, Elmas's doctoral research focuses on seals found at Konya-Karahöyük dating back to the 2nd millennium BCE. 

merve beşel demir

  Merve Beşel Demir (she/her) is an MA student at Istanbul University, Department of Protohistory and Near Eastern Archaeology. After graduating from the same department, Merve joined several other excavations and surveys. In her MA, she focuses on the Late Bronze Age I ceramics from Konya Karahöyük. 

gülistan büyükgedik

  Gülistan Büyükgedik (she/her) is an MA student at Istanbul University, Department of Protohistory and Near Eastern Archaeology. She is interested in digital applications in archaeology like GIS, DragonFly and several graphical processing tools. In her MA, she focuses on small finds from Konya Karahöyük. 

MEGAN ELAINE BRODERS

  Megan Elaine Broders (she/her) is studying geoanthropology at Istanbul Technical University, Eurasia Institute of Earth Sciences. She did her undergraduate degrees in Chemical Engineering and Polymer and Color Chemistry at North Carolina State University. She is interested in material analysis of archaeological artifacts. Her master's research is an interdisciplinary analysis, including organic residue analysis and thin-section petrography of Late Bronze Age I ceramics from Konya Karahöyük.

abdullah bilen

 Abdullah Bilen graduated from Ege University, Department of Archaeology. He has been involved in numerous archaeological projects in southeastern Türkiye since 2004 including Şanlıurfa, Kazane Hoyuk, University of Virginia; Diyarbakır Kavuşan Hoyuk and Şırnak Cultural Inventory TÜBİTAK Survey Project, Ege University; Batman, Yukarı Salat Cami Yanı Excavation, University of Tokyo; Batman, Gre Amer Excavation, Koç University; Nusaybin, Mor Yakup Church Excavation, Mardin Museum, and Siirt, Başur Hoyuk Excavation, Ege University. Abdullah completed his MA  at Paris I Panthéon Sorbonne University (2015), specializing in the Archaeology of Historical Ages, with a French government scholarship. He has worked in Çınar Municipality, the Metropolitan Municipality of Diyarbakır, and the Mardin Museum on cultural heritage, tourism, local economy, and restoration project designs and management. He currently works as a project coordinator at Art Anywhere Association. He is in the process of defending his PhD at Ege University, in the Protohistory and Near Eastern Archaeology Department, with a thesis titled "The Middle Bronze Age of the Upper Tigris Valley: Regional Culture and Political Structure."


He served as an assistant director of excavations (2022)
