Sercan got his BA in 2010 from Ankara University, Department of Anthropology, palaeoanthropology section. In 2014, he finished his MSc in palaeoanthropology in University of Sheffield, UK with full the scholarship of Ministry of National Education of Türkiye. In his masters, Sercan focused on the dietary ecology and their masticatory anatomy of ancient humans.
Sercan got his PhD from Ankara University in 2019 with his research focusing on anthropometric and motoric characteristics of athletes. While doing PhD, he actively participated in several excavations including Hatay Üçağızlı Cave (Palaeolithic), İnkaya Cave (Çanakkale), and Gürgürbaba Hill (Van-Erciş). He was also a team member in Pliocene and Pleistocene period surveysin Sivas. Dr. Acar’s research interests include biological anthropology, paleopathology, osteology, dental anthropology, and anthropogenetics.
Sercan also started excavating a cemetery area at the site in 2023.
Onur Kaya (he/him) is a PhD student specializing in the 2nd millennium BC Anatolia at Istanbul University, Department of Protohistory and Near Eastern Archaeology. Graduated from the same department, in his MA thesis (2023) Onur studied architectural practices in the Neolithic and Chalcolithic Anatolia, with a specific focus on the West. In his PhD, he is working on architecture and settlement patterns of Bronze Age central Anatolia. In his research, Onur uses complementary methods of archaeology and scientific practices. He is mainly interested in the application of synchrotron light on cultural heritage and archaeological materials.
